I've booked a few of these, all in F, some originating from the west coast and some from the midwest and have had a wide range of pricing:
N America to S Asia rate, Europe to S Asia rate, S Asia to Europe via the US rate and in one case, I was told I needed two awards, Europe to S Asia and an intra south asia award.
Under the old redemption levels, the range was from 120,000 to 190,000 miles, with most of my tix being priced at the lower levels.
I never start by asking for these itins. Only after not finding any transpac award availability will I suggest that I am willing to go over the Atlantic. I'm honest and explain to the agent that I've been given a range of pricing in the past. Most of the time, the agent will ask a SD to review the itin and confirm the pricing.
