VS UpperClass is Bad

I flew UpperClass (as a CO codeshare flight on CO stock) to LHR 2 weeks ago and did not like it; I think Kenya Airways J product is far superior to VirginAtlantic's in the air.

While the Clubhouses are awesome, the inflight service is tired, worn, and outdated. While somehow their seat width is identical to CO's BusinessFirst product, I found their pods to be cramped and unforgiving, making sleeping inflight very uncomfortable. It's also a little wierd to not be facing forward on a plane ...and more wierd to have a "window seat" yet not be able to look out the window due to the configuration of the cabin.

On my flight, my seat had some technical issues... and my AVOD failed to work. (As did many others on the flight.) They had a stack of portable DVD players and a handful of DVD's onflight for their expected mechanical issues.

Food is poor and the service is a bit surly.

Plus the plane felt old and outdated --rather than feel like Austin Powers cool, it felt more like old/campy/early-80's trash.

If I had a choice between CO and VS metal on a flight to LHR, I'd definitely pick CO. While I love their airport services (top-notch meals at their wonderfully decorated Clubhouses, the Cowshed spa, delightful massage upon arrival at LHR, FastTrack through the airport), you spend more time in the air than the ground and all the good on the ground doesn't make up for all the bad in the air.
