Funny - I don't think I've experienced this more than once, and in that case, it was because there was limited gate space, and a really full flight (Tucson, and those are DL gate agents!). I've seen gate agents rush the boarding process, but that is typically because they have seen the flight load is light, and that they can rush the process some without complicating things.
