First, there was some recent discussion on this topic, but the term "gate lice" for your fellow human beings is pretty darn degrading.

But, the problem you describe is widespread on AS. I notice it most in SEA. If you're an MVP / MVPG / First Class you basically have to be standing in the front of the crowd when they call us otherwise you will end up in the general boarding mass. If not, I always find myself winding my way through the crowd to get to the back of the current boarding line - most of the time which isn't well defined because of all of the people standing there.

So, what can be done to fix this? First, get rid of the ridiculous class segregating MVP versus regular line. That just causes further confusion and is completely unnecessary. Sure, it might be a nice gesture to AS FF'ers, but seldom works as intended. From there, I don't know how we can reasonably expect the one or two gate agents to manage the throng of people. They are already busy boarding and dealing with the other gate job duties. If there could be a dedicated person directing traffic, that would work, but obviously isn't practical. AS should consider changing their boarding policies completely. Southwest's zones and lining 'em up in the boarding area seems to work well and boarding always seems quicker.
