You can try it but like the previous post says - if you stay with them first it is easier to get them to store it for you. This is just another minor problem that tourists encounter when they fly into Bangkok and immediately leave the city that same day for another city.
Always easier to spend the first night in Bangkok and the last night there. You might be able to get the hotel to save the bag for you if you pre-pay for your hotel room.
