The airport bag system uses lasers to read the bagtags , if it gets conflicting information (such as two bag tags with different final destinations) it sends the bag to a run off area where it waits for the airport operator to collect the bag and deliver it (eventually ) to the right airline. This happens when agents forget to remove your old tag before applying the new one.
