- Can Sabre generate automated bag tag for 4 segments even when the itinerary has 6 segments? If so:
- Can I choose to check the bag only to SEA or the DFW before SEA, and recheck it at the same airport? The scheduled connection time is 105 minutes and 90 minutes, respectively. What will happen if my arrival or baggage claim is delayed and I miss the bag check cut-off time? I doubt they would check the bag for a later flight and let me fly the original itinerary, so I suppose I will have to stand by for a later flight (losing upgrade, and perhaps overnighting at the airport) or Fedex the bag? (Delayed arrival will also be a problem if I put it in a locker at DFW after clearing customs.)

So many questions, so little coffee yet

Usually, if the connection is more than 12 hours or on different days it wont allow you to through check it anyway, so you will probably need to hold on to the bag at DFW.

I never check my own bags so I am not sure if you can (when arriving at DFW ) have the agents re check the bag after clearing customs at the bag drop area, I know they have agents there and some work stations, but have never used them. If you can explain this to the agent in NRT , then try to have them just check the bag to DFW , and then recheck it at DFW for the MIA-DFW-SEA-DFW, segments, pick it up at DFW and then recheck it the following day for the DFW-SEA segment.

Agents can "segment select" when checking bags, but are reluctant to do so as it is "short chekcing" , and as yours is an international flight they might not do so. There are limited exceptions to the rules .
