I don't see this as a problem. If they announce that for volunteering, you get $200 plus what you paid for your one-way flight, they don't have to explicitly announce that those who are flying on a Rapid Rewards ticket would get 0.5 Rapid Rewards award back, because that
is what those folks paid for their one-way flight. For those not flying on a Rapid Rewards ticket, if they whine, it's no different than the guy flying on a $50 one-way ticket whining that the guy who flew on a $400 one-way ticket was getting an additional $400, while he's only getting an additional $50. The guy who paid $50 can be told whichever case he's whining about
: "You're getting back what you were willing to pay. Nobody was stopping you from choosing to pay full fare for the flight."
