I still have to evaluate MyPublisher, SharedInk and MPix, but I thought I'd post a little intermediate update here based on my experiences so far.

I now have 2 books from Kodak Gallery, one from Blurb and another from Shutterfly. I bought the basic 8 1/2x 11 book from each company (the Blurb book was a little smaller) and for Blurb, paid the upcharge for premium paper.

Based on the picture quality alone, I'd rank them as follows:

1. Shutterfly (I'd recommend this choice for landscapes and buildings)
2. Blurb (With the premium paper option, I'd recommend this choice for portraits and people)
3. Kodak Gallery - I don't recommend this option.

I was really surprised, but I found the images from the Shutterfly book to be much sharper and the colors more saturated. The difference from the other two books was very noticeable. I showed the books to my spouse, who also liked the Shutterfly book over the others. The Blurb book was OK, and would've been impressive on it's own, had I not had the Shutterfly book to compare it to.

As for the Kodak Gallery book, the colors were off and kind of washed out. I would not recommend Kodak Gallery.

Other Shutterfly Comments:
Now, I do have to mention that if you do your own color profiling on your images, you are advised to "turn off" Vivid Pics when making a Shutterfly book. Vivid Pics is some kind of enhancement feature that runs by default to supposedly make your prints look better. I did turn off "Vivid Pics" in making my book since I apply color profiling with my PP software. If you are a regular user and just run with the default, I don't know if you'd get the same results that I did.

Other Blurb Comments:
I did pay for the premium paper option, and I'm glad I did. The paper finish is much nicer than either of the two other books, and gives a "softer" look to the images. I'd say that if you are publishing a book of portraits, or what a more "soft-focus" look, go with Blurb and the premium paper option. OTOH, if you want richer detail and saturated color, go with Shutterfly.
