Angry OT: bmi cuts services LHR-AMS

I'm only posting this in the KLM forum because of the large amount of people switching to diamond club from Flying Blue because of the recent changes, feel free to delete/lock this thread if it's inappropriate. No point moving to the bmi forum as it's already being discussed.

The change that'll affect most KLM converts is LHR-AMS is being reduced to 4 per day which makes KLM a better proposition on this route particularly when combined with the LCY VLM/CityJet codeshare.

Other changes include changing LHR-BRU to an all Embrarer operation (E145 I believe). I quite like these small aircraft personally but the reduction in capacity usually means higher prices and it'll lose the dedicated business section (this route often operated the midhaul config aircraft currently that have very comfortable business seats).

Other changes that will benefit KLM (and NXEC) include bmi scrapping their LBA and MME to LHR routes which will mean more connections through AMS for people in these areas and making the train the only realistic option for getting to London.

It's still worth signing up to diamond club if you're looking to move away from Flying Blue but these changes have made me more likely to stick with the VLM/KLM option next time I go to AMS when previously I was going to switch to bmi on this route.

It's not the first time bmi has made moves that benefit AFKL, they scrapped their LHR-CDG route a few years ago so there's no direct *A route from London-Paris.

LH will be using some of these BD slots (and aircraft) to operate LHR to MXP/TXL.
