I don't see why this would make a difference, the BA miles are the same value irrespective of your status in the BAEC. The ticket would be in the name of the person travelling, not the person who earned the miles so only the actual passenger's status would apply.
My understanding is that Gold members have better redemption availability than other members - which of course makes all the difference......
