How is the experience on AA? Are lounges frequent? Are you allowed to use BA lounges?

When do you get your SWUs?

Do you find yourself on multiple airline alliances often when flying AA for your main leg?

What I'd really like to know is the disadvantages you have found flying AA.

Thank you!
If you fly 100k or more a year, earn 100k points or fly 100 or more segments, IMO, it's the best frequent flyer program among US carriers. I have discovered that if you buy your ticket in advance--which for me ends up being the cheapest fare--you're almost assured an upgrade; just make sure you check the request box when you book the ticket.

I received by first SWUs when I hit 100,000 points.

I stick with AA and don't mix and match. I have taken Alaska flights and earned AA credit, but I've never mixed the two on the same record.

I don't see any disadvantages, at least now when compared to CO, DL, US or NW--I haven't flown UA much. At the EXP level, it's much, much easier to get upgrades. If things go wrong, AA treats its EXP customers much better than either CO or DL treats its Plats.

If you have a choice, pick AA and don't look back.
