Just my 2 cents: pasta carbonara is not a good selection at any time, but even less so if you are relatively immobile and recovering from an injury. If you want to get back on your feet quickly, and without layering on some bodyfat, you may want to consider:
- Raw fruits and vegetables and nuts. Easy to keep next to you for easy munching throughout the day. Nuts are calorie dense, but have "good" fat in them.
- Lean protein like fish or chicken.
Either way you want to give your body the raw material it needs to repair the damage done by your injury. The unhealthy fats and refined carbs in the pasta meal are not going to facilitate that.
Thanks
767-322ETOPS, totally agree with you.
The day I ordered pasta was the first day after the injury, there was not much left in the pantry and I had not yet gotten around to organising someone to do a spot of grocery shopping for me. To top it off, it was a day spent watching mind numbing TV shows such as Days of Our Lives and Bold and the Beautiful, followed by Neighbours (those from Australia and England will know this one!!!). As stated in the OP, the pasta was not ordered out of choice as much as ordered out of a desire to not order a pizza, when it turned out that dominos was my only option that night. (Local takeaway restaurants don't take credit cards for phone orders, I did not have any cash on me)
Meanwhile, for those interested, an injury update. The swelling has reduced. Went in for a checkup yesterday and the doctor tells me that one of the three ligaments surrounding the ankle is damaged (stretched, possible partial tear). The ankle is still strapped up, still keeping it elevated as much as I can.
When I woke up today morning, I could actually plant the foot down and walk, albeit with a limp. This is the first day that I've been able to do that since I got injured, though I still think I should give it a couple of days before I loose the crutches.
