Technically, it was not a commuter aircraft. It was a Part 121 scheduled flight and could reasonably be expected to be about as safe as other Part 121 scheduled flights, which is to say that crashes are extremely rare and this one crash does not by itself change that.

Commuter/air taxi is Part 135.
