I have a Master's as well, and a Ph.D. One thing we did often when we didn't know something is to talk with friends who also knew the area. They may well have insights. This is no different except that friends are more anonymous, but can still provide valuable information in terms of places to look.
I did this as well for my Master's research. If my friends knew somebody who might be able to help me, though, I didn't ask them to ask their friends, and relay back the answers. I ask them to introduce me to their friends, and then I asked questions (because the answers often caused me to have more questions).
In this case, it seems that it would be better for the OP to introduce his/her friend to FT, and for the friend to open an account and post the question. The friend could also get some of the flavor of the situation from the TWA forum here.
