Nope. There's probably a 1 and a million chance of me needing it. And If I went around checking to make sure I was safe from everything else of similar odds, I doubt I'd ever make it past the door of my house.
Perceived risk is a funny thing. I am pretty sure that many, many, more lives would be saved if every driver in America would check the condition of their tires and the air pressure before every car trip. If we avoided just one blow out per one million car trips we would save hundreds of lives per year. But no one does this.
I always know where the exit is but I would never bother to check for a life vest. It's a waste of time.
