If you fly mostly coach the lack of E+ is a big disadvantage. After I requalified for PLT last November I cashed in some UA miles and upgraded to E+--it really feels like a 1/2 class upgrade (and the food was better, yes really)--and started rethinking my AA loyalty. UA doesn't fly my current most frequent route, JFK-CDG, but *A does have a wider reach.
