1084.00 TAX 477.50 - 1561.50 TICKET TOTAL
So I went ahead and changed the Fare Bucket and asked for E-VIPs to be applied and itinerary ticketed.
I then played on aa.com pricing 2 seperate tickets..ie. UK to Miami and seperate ticket Miami to Bahamas. Again I had to phone AA for space in an upgradeable class on TATL...The Result.
Ticket 1: Your total fare (including tax & fee(s)) for 1 passenger(s) is $ 637.06 USD Plus $58 UK Premium Cabin Tax
Ticket 2: Your total fare (including tax & fee(s)) for 1 passenger(s) is $ 238.20 USD
Total $933.26
Hence an amazing saving of almost $630
Thankfully I managed to change everything, but American wanted to give me a voucher for the difference, which considering the circumstances was unacceptable to me. If I a mear mortal was able to deduce 2 seperate tickets were significantly cheaper, surely an Airline Fares expert should have considered this.
Hope you do not miss your connection, no implied/quaranteed protection in this instance for separate tix
