We flew WP a couple of months ago with a carry-on and a backpack each. We printed our BP at the hotel and went straight to the gate. At the gate we were told to bring our carry-ons to the ground staff before boarding. Apparently, almost any carry-on will be too big to carry inside the plane, so they stow it in the back of the plane. The big advantage over checking-in bags is that you get your carry-on at the front of the plane once you land, and there is no need to wait in the luggage carousel.
