My Situation:
Bought a LONE4 from AA last October, using all 16 segments, including the max allowed 4 in Asia; last two segments in the itinerary are BOM-SYD-PER
Plan to fly last few segments in Sept/Oct (flew 1st segment in Nov); booked dummy dates in July for them, in order to get an e-Ticket
Was intending to change the dates all the remaining (10) segments shortly in any case - the next 6 segments I'm going to shift by two weeks, and was intending to shift the last 4 out to Sep/Oct but with the expectation that I'd change them again before Sep when my plans are more certain
Had no intention of changing the routing, just the dates
QF has just announced that its 3-weekly BOM-SYD service is ceasing in May
and it looks like it is being replaced with a codeshare with Jet Airways to SIN, connecting with a QF flight to SYD (and with other QF flights to other destinations in Oz)
So my issues are:
cannot re-route say BOM-HKG-PER because I'm already using all 4 Asian segments and that would add one extra one (I guess I can do this and pay the change fee and the fee to have an extra Asian segment)
cannot route BOM-SIN-SYD-PER because that will then total 17 segments
cannot fly the QF codeshare BOM-SIN anyway, because it's a non-OW carrier (Jet) and so not allowed on a OWE itinerary
so couldn't even fly BOM-SIN-PER
Any advice on my options would be most welcome, particular the following thoughts I've had:
when I change the next 6 segments, will I have to then address the issue of re-routing the last 2 segments or can I defer that until later
will the fact that I will want to change the dates of the last 2 segments affect any rights I might have because of the involuntary change
what are my chances of being able to change BOM-SYD-PER to say BOM-HKG-PER without having to pay for the extra segment in Asia
can I look at this as an opportunity and be able to re-route my remaining segments without having to pay the change fee (don't know that I want to, but if I could then I'd start thinking about it)
any other options open to me?
FYI my full itinerary is: PER-SYD-JFK-BGI-BOS-LHR-CAI (already flown); CAI-AMM-IST-LHR-PEK-HKG-SIN (planning to fly in Apr/May); SIN-BKK-BOM-SYD-PER (planning to fly in Sep/Oct)
