I recently read an article about someone who goes into the attic of his parents and finds mountains of suitcases and bags, most of which were not used anymore. I thought that was strange and that I surely didn't have such a thing. Well, it's only because I don't have my packs and bags all stowed in one place that I didn't notice how much there was until I did a tally.
To my defense I must say that I use all of it regularly except two pieces: the boblbee backpack and the big VauDe (German equivalent of Lowe) hiking rucksack that I used for trips to India, Scotland and through the USA.
How much do you have. Do you really use it all? Or are you somewhat of a bag fetishist like me? My name is Till and I am a bag-aholic. This is the list of my vices:
5 briefcases: 1 alu, 1 messenger/photo bag (Tenba), 1 fancy nylon (piquadro), 1 ballistic (Tumi), 1 leather (Goldpfeil, grandpa's case; love this one).
2 suitcases: the biggest Mandarina Duck Tank series case from the 90's (soft side) and the biggest multi-wheel Rimowa hardside alu case
2 duffels: 1 Bree in black Nylon from the early 90's and 1 Eagle Creek OrV Supertrunk for those really big trips.
1 rolling garment bag from Samsonite Pro-DLX which is gorgeous and really gives wrinkle-free clothes but it is super heavy and the bag weight to volume ratio is really bad. I got that one for an incredible $70.
1 Travelpro Platinum 5 22" rollaboard, see my review
3 carry-on bags without wheels that are recent acqusitions: 1 BR 235X, 1 Easygoing Carry-on and 1 Pathfinder TX2 expandable 22" bag
3 gear/photo bags: 1 Kieselbag TZ600 (holds all of my photo equipment if necessary), 1 Tenba D12 (is very practical because you can access it very easily without setting it down and can hold two cameras with attached lenses), 1 small Tamrac for when I just take 1 DSLR and an extra lens.
Add to this a bevy of small packs and cubes including a Pelican case for cigar and pipe related equipment.
That's 17 pieces. Ouch!
I could open a shoppe!
What about you?
