we honeymooned in dec. and spent 2 nights in phi phi on the way from Krabi t Khao lak. In retrospect I kind of regretted it.

Nothing on phi phi is all that nice. We stayed at the holiday inn which is actually one of the most expensive places on phi phi but didn't compare to our starwood hotels. I am sure that it will all seem like a letdown after the JW.

Also getting there is a huge pain. The ferry is not very nice and is takes you to the main town in phi phi. none of teh nice hotels are near the main town. You need to take another long tail which is a pain with luggage.

My opinion is that phi phi is good for backpackers or day trips by speedboat but I think a one or two night overnight in attempted luxury does not work that great.

In retrospect I would have spent more time from Krabi and done an all day trip by speedboat to phi phi.

You could go to le meridien khao lak which is about an hour from JW but it probably won't be much different.
