US v UK site

I habitually use the US site (because of the wider functions), but with the country of residence set to UK, I get quoted in pounds.

I had assumed that:
  1. The price in pounds and dollars would be equivalent on the US site?
  2. The price in pounds on the US site would be the same as the price in pounds on the UK site?

I would be interested to know what differences you have found?
