Even though I'm a EU citizen as well I have had plenty of tickets issued in the USA and Asia.
As I stay with Star Alliance, and having never flown AA, I don't know how their online booking process works. Are you required to enter a US address when booking through the US version of AA.com?
Oh, and I checked using ITA. A round-trip DUS-MIA issued in USA on AA (example dates 13 April - 22 April) is 655 USD, whereas a ticket issued in Germany should be 502 EUR, the equivalent of about 646 USD. Did you ask the CS representative of an explanation of the price difference?
thank you so much for your reply. What is ITA? (sorry)...
I checked for this flight - both same times on both sites:
April 7, DUS-LHR-MIA (departure Dus 7:10am-arrival MIA 2:20PM)
April 13, MIA-LHR-DUS (departure MIA 75:05pm-arrival DUS 12:05pm)
on AA.com it costs $676 including tax
on americanairlines.de it costs 808 Euros including tax (which is about $1,040)
I asked the rep about it, but she didnt have an explanation....
so sad....I mean, I know that usually US fares are cheaper, but this is a lot of money for me,,,,and if there is any way to get the US fare to work for me I'd appreciate it
