My thought exactly. Apologies to the OP if this isn't true, but if you were really cutting it so fine, in Cairo of all places where traffic can be pretty horrific, then I think the offer of a dinner was pretty reasonable for a delay of a couple of minutes. 500 points as a gesture seems decent enough to say sorry for holding you up for such a short time.

The issue here for me is the accusation of not paying the bill.
