It's not the best neighborhood, but as a bunch of guys traveling in a group I doubt you'll have any problems. And it is right next to the New York Avenue Metrorail station. Still, not much to do up there except maybe the bars/restaurants on H St, and that's a mile away. I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Penn w/ a light-rail transfer
vs.
Camden that stops right at the Yards

Camden runs far less frequently than Penn, and not at all in the middle of the day. See schedules
