If you ever want starpoints as compensation, speak directly to Corporate Customer Services (Starwood).

If you want to lodge a complaint about a specific practice, report a member of staff, or get hotel-provided compensation (Dinner, etc.), then speak with the hotel GM.

Were I you and had to catch a train or suffer dire consequences, I would have driven off, and told them to call me.
