Lounge policy at Leeds/Bradford?

Hi all

I flew out of Sir Jimmy Savile International this morning on BD611 to BRU. I was booked on a reward ticket (2,250 miles + GBP50 cash and taxes, which is a great redemption considering the fares normally on this route), and was in J taking advantage of the free DC Gold upgrade from economy. On arriving at the Servisair lounge I showed my boarding pass for business expecting that to be enough, but it wasn't. I was told that as it was a contract lounge BD Business class doesn't allow access. I showed my DC Gold card and was then allowed in.

I find this baffling. I'm sure if I go onto the bmi website now I'd probably find text stating this is the case, but surely it doesn't make any sense to not allow people travelling on expensive business class fares access to the lounge, yet BD Golds on cheap economy fares ARE allowed access? It's not even a *A lounge so why do BD Golds travelling in economy gain access?
