BTW I did not take it as a personal attack, I understand that you are attacking the idea and not the person.

I hope I gave you a better understanding of my position but you are right it is semantics.

If you fail to show the ID with the purchase I must assume that the deal will go bad and I won't sell. Net = no id no sale.

By the same token I can't charge extra for credit card use but I can offer a discount for cash. Net = pay more for using the credit card.

And for full disclosure, I am speaking in the present tense in my posts but I no longer work retail and I don't currently have a merchant account nor do I handle the payments for the company I am working for. It is just easier to say "I can" rather than "I could when I did".

I hope you can see there is a difference between private and government.
