What is the checked baggage fees? My guess that I get 1 free bag checked on the AS/NW flight but on the return, I must pay $15.
You are correct. A couple of things...make sure you have AS check your bags through onto the NW itinerary. You are best off having a copy of your confirmed itinerary on NW at AS check in (though they will likely only need a flight number). The shouldn't give you any hassle about it as AS and NW have a reverse baggage agreement. If you reclaim and recheck your bags, you will be charged. If you have to check in at a NWA kiosk for the 2nd flight, mark zero bags, or it will auto charge you (assuming you did, indeed check your bags through). If you have a human and they ask, you can just tell them that your bag has been checked through, and they should NOT charge you (baggage charges go with the policy of the 1st carrier in the itin).

You should expect to pay the $15 on the return as you suspect and Beckoa confirms. However...you may get lucky and have them waive the fee if you explain that you are connecting on to an AS flight, and that AS has no fees for first bag...but don't count on it.
