Welcome to BA's seat allocation policy.Of course there are ways to get round it. 1) Travel in First Class where you can have a choice of all unallocated seats apart from the coffin boxes of 1A/K on the 747....or 2) Fly with some other airline which allows you to choose your seats when you book.......first come first served,that's a sensible way to do it.
