YYZ-ORD-HKG maybe forever sale, but not purchase for ORD-HKG. In fact, if you price just for ORD-HKG nonstop both ways, it is always the most expensive. It has to do ORD-SFO-HKG or ORD-NRT-HKG at least one way to get a cheaper option.
A couple of days ago i was looking at MR options and ORD-HKG round trip was $1000. The kicker - it was a W fare.
Of course, YMMV based on dates, etc.
