But this is no different than it's always been.

NW and DL have different inventory systems, and as such they don't have the same types of availability on any given flight. NW/DL fare classes are not yet aligned, either.

If you're trying to get the best deal, simply check both websites and take what looks best to you. Same as always. And it will continue this way until the revenue/pricing systems are completely aligned. It's not exactly something that can just be switched on. It takes time.
