I do not support fare evasion, but users of the airport stations sometimes see people just walking through the open ticket barriers- or even pushing them aside to get through.

To save on the T3 airport to city train (or vice versa), just spend 20 minutes walking up to Mascot station and only pay about $6 instead of the $13 at the airport.
