My travel plans are for 20 days in China, but after reading a bit more about Yangshuo it doesn't seems as the "unique" experience which i thought it would be. I kind of only want to go there because of the beautiful surroundings.

Because I am a Swede (pretty colourless and easy to sway), I would really like to have ideas about a different itinerary for this trip

The only thing written in stone is Hong Kong, Hangshuo and Shanghai. Anyplace near which will give me some good views and nice food (i don't want to be killed, it should be cheap, easy to acces and "on the way" from HKG to Hangshuo).

Very thankful for the help on this subject
You might like to consider visiting Suzhou, the city of classic Chinese gardens, one hour by train from Shganghai, the legend says that many of the most beautiful women in Chinese history came from Suzhou.

There will be the usual burger and pizza places, but there are also a large number of good restaurants and western hotels sell all kinds of decent food, western and Chinese. There will also be the usual touristy 'distractions' but we all have to put up with it, as things have moved on somewhat since the days of Marco Polo.

What ever you decide, I think you will enjoy China. Do take lots of photos, so we can all share your enjoyment.
