If the kind souls at LHR could just take care of my suitcases without breaking them, I wouldn't mind much if they arrived first or last onto the belt.

Seriously, I have had bags damaged on more than half of the occasions when I checked them in at LHR. I'm not talking about a bit of scuffing... In the last two years I can recall a broken handle, missing luggage tag, missing locks, a heavy metal zipper tag sheared in half, two wheels snapped off (both on the same journey). The common denominator appears to be LHR.

Slow to reach the belt, but undamaged luggage would be an improvement.
