It wasn't the peak to peak - if that thing collapsed, nobody would have lived.

It was the Excalibur gondola that had the collapsed tower - it was in the initial section between Whistler village and Base II. I was there the day it collapsed - fortunately I was not on it - I was riding down the Whistler-Village gondola at the time of the collapse.
