I have to travel from LAX to BDL, and I have a connection in EWR with a 2 hour layover - perfect! Since I am in california on leisure and going to BDL for work, I would like to get my bag checked in for EWR only (and send it home thru a friend who can meet me at EWR outside security). And I can use the remainder of the time to get back into the sterile zone, go to PC, take a shower, and catch my flight to BDL. I then don't have to deal with my checked baggage while I am on my biz trip at CT.

Would there be a problem with the check in agent in LAX if I request him/her to check in the bags only upto EWR, even though I would continue on to BDL.
