Just out of curiosity... what is this ranking supposed to do actually?
FWIW: On >400K of miles short/long/medium haul on LH/LX metal in 2008, I found the actual servce differentiation came down to the following:
1. Class of Service (usually treated better in F than C...)
2. Crew (some are great- some not- incidentally the FRA vs MUC differentiator does not seem to be all that true for me anymore)
When I received an OP UP in November from C to F on an oversold LX flight ZRH/GRU I asked why and was told "because you are a good customer". I think, actually, I was just on a very tight connection from VCE and they thought I may not make it... although it was a C fare (as opposed to Z or D) which adds to my secret conspiracy theory that fare class trumps all when OP UPs are needed.
Finally, I have asked several crews about this ranking and if people do know they certainly will not explain it and are excellent actors at pretending they know nothing about it.
