A competitor has a "best rate price" (refundable) that is cheaper then Wyndham's "best rate price" but more then the "advanced purchase price". Should this be honored as a free hotel in the BRG?

Thanks
No - if Wyndham has any lower rate that is lower than each of the competitor rates, then a BRG is not possible. It's fairly straightforward. If you don't book the cheapest rate on Wyndham, they'll just offer you that rate instead of the rate you booked. They guarantee the best rate - so if they do have the best rate (through advance purchase) they will offer it.

On the contrary, my successes with the BRG led me to start my well-known website on the topic to share that extreme success with others - so, personally, I find your post to be extremely pessimistic. I have had almost 500 free rooms issued, and less than 30 denials to my name (mostly when I wasn't careful or the rate had disappeared before the claim was viewed).

The Wyndham claim staff do not seek "every possible way" to get out of honoring it. They just go by their rules. If you know how they think about a claim, and what goes, and what doesn't, it's fairly cut and dry. I don't submit any BRG claim I know will be denied (eg. pitting a voucher rate like Skoosh.com against Wyndham, which is against the T&C's since Wyndham doesn't allow voucher sites to be compared).

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off, learn how to master the BRG, and I guarantee you that you WILL find success with it. It takes effort, but it's worth it.
