That's a real shame about having to fight with them on your baggage allowance.

However, I would never, ever pack valuable electronics in my checked bag no matter what airline I was flying on. And I can't understand why anyone else ever would either. You don't know whether it was QR or some other airport employee who took things from your bag. Did you have travel insurance?
