What about shingles?
Last year I came down with the shingles (sort of an adult re-occurrence of chickenpox, for those who don't know). It manifested as a single large bump on one side of my forehead. I had no idea what it was. I thought it might be an infection from getting nicked by my barbers clippers. Anyway, it appeared on a Sunday morning, and when I woke up early Monday morning for my flight to ORD it had doubled in size and became very painful. When I got to Chicago, I was so concerned that I went to the walk-in clinic at the airport and was immediately diagnosed with shingles and given a prescription for Valtrex. I had 6 meetings that week and went to all of them except one, where a pregnant woman was whom I was supposed to be meeting with. I did not shake anyones hand or touch anyone that week. I flew home on Thursday as scheduled. What would you do? Should I have rented a car and driven home to avoid flying back?
BTW: If you ever think you have shingles, go to the doctor immediately. Valtrex works only if you start taking it within about 48 hours of onset. It worked great for me and I was back to normal by the weekend.
