I'm just related my experience with them. They didn't care how much my bag weight or the size, just that it was only one item. Maybe our whole group got lucky because we weren't in Dublin but Sweden and those agents didn't care.
All that has changed about 2 weeks ago. At most places where you board Ryanair flights now have scales and you your hand luggage may not be over the authorized size. And they do check at virtually all airports now.
