Excluded Vehicles

Also, please remember that there are other excluded vehicles. If you do not have a Platinum card or Small Business Platinum Card, or are not enrolled in the Premium Car Rental Protection (PCRP) program, then vehicles such as pick-up trucks and large SUV's are NOT covered. Also, in the declaration of coverage there is a list of other exotic cars and other vehicles such as RV's and water vehicles that are not covered. Before you rent, be sure to check the terms and conditions. Also remember that coverage is for a rental up to 30 days for all cards. In order to beat this if you want to rent for more than 30 days, you must take one day off from renting after the 30th day. You need to make sure that a new rental contract is open every time after you take that day break. If you are enrolled in PCRP, then that covers you for up to 42 days. Make sure your account is current and also make sure that you, being the card member, are the primary renter. Any additional driver must be listed on the rental contract, unless the additional driver will be your spouse. Some, but not all rental companies afford authorized driver status to your spouse, but make sure to read the rental contract. Also, in California, your spouse, under state law, is automatically an authorized driver. As long as you follow the terms and conditions set forth in the declaration of coverage, you will be afforded coverage by AMEX.
