Website and changing fare rules

So, I'm trying to price an upgradeable (non-V) trip to LGW.

I start by pricing PIT-LGW "flexible." I then run thru the fare rule choices until I find one that has the days I want and a non-"V" fare class. I choose it, choose my dates, and continue.

If I then view the fare rules, it has reverted to a "V" fare. ...?

Time to call the CP desk, I guess, but I wonder what is going on? I further wonder how angry I'd be if I went out of my way to book in a non-V fare class (and hence pay more) and then have it (web site) sell me a V (and hence no upgrade) fare.

On a related note--any CPs having trouble using DMUPSYS02s, even if you don't clear until the gate?
