Taxi ride to/from airport to downtown not expensive nor will you encounter any traffic. I've landed (flying F or C), and arrived at Shangrila hotel less than 40 minutes after touchdown. Flying out, immigration is quick/painless and security at gate the same.

Singapore is one city that really doesn't need an 'airport' hotel....
