Yes, that is why I was confused. Other threads like the "report your stays" are broken down into separate threads: IC Royal Ambassador experiences, Platinum experiences, etc., so I thought maybe there were separate promo threads for the various chains.
With regard to the substantive points you made above, thanks very much for the explanation of them. I'm going to have to calculate whether or not it makes sense to accrue miles or points for these stays (probably 2 nights a week for 10-12 weeks straight).
