somewhere there's a Murphy's Law to cover this. since I haven't found it I'll make one up:

if you're the pax trying to scramble then no, they are most likely not going to hold the plane

if you're a pax already on the plane then they are more likely to wait for connecting pax, especially if you have a tight connection at the other end
