My understanding is that this property will not be affiliated with Le Meridien brand or Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide after March 31st.
At least that is what the Special Condition says at spg.com concerning this hotel:

The Palace Hotel will be leaving the Starwood system on March 31, 2009. Reservations for dates on or after March 31, 2009, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.
