Thanks for the information. Ended up using what I value most, airline awards that permit one way awards. Since they are 1/2 of what a r/t would be, it makes perfect sense to book each way. Traveled home on KLM and will most likely use same as return, or book a one way out of London from a bucket shoppe, or whatever it is they call it these days.

Boo to US airlines though, for not permitting one way awards and for terribly costly bereavement fares. Non-refundable internet fares on all carriers checked came out cheaper than what was quoted over the phone, not to mention not waiving the phone reservation fee! Shame.
